Sevilla, Spain: Tower of La Giralda (the Weather Vane). The original tower is a late 12th C Almohad construction for what was then the Great Mosque of Sevilla. In the 1280s, Castilian armies captured Sevilla and the Mosque became a church. The present Cathedral dates from the 14th and 15th Centuries, primarily. The top of the tower was reworked with a new Renaissance cap in the 16th Century. The weather vane, La Giralda, was moved down to ground level in the 20th Century and a replica installed.

Tumblr and New York’s PBS station THIRTEEN have partnered to showcase on TV the work of Tumblr’s filmmakers, both aspiring and established.
THIRTEEN’s ‘Reel 13’ movie night airs a short film, voted online favorite of the week and broadcast to public TV’s largest market. For the month of May, ‘Reel 13’ will source the works of Tumblr’s creative community: All you have to do is enter your short film via the ‘Reel 13’ contest website between now and March 31. Be sure to include your Tumblr URL for consideration for the 12 May finalists for ‘Reel 13 Tumblr Month.’
Three Tumblr user films will be selected each week and put to an online vote, with four winners to air on THIRTEEN.
You can submit a film for consideration any time and still win down the line (‘Reel 13’ is an ongoing initiative of local public TV), but prizes during ‘Reel 13 Tumblr Month’ include $600.00 and a feature on Tumblr Storyboard.
